Your Choice Please!

So, now your opinion is wanted! Let's face it: Hundreds of people are downloading the vinyl rips that I'm providing for this blog. And, I really don't know what you're after... a few comments are left but are you just downloading the stuff looking for samples, completing your mp3 library stuff? Are you buying vinyl? Just the old - undiscovered stuff or also new compilations? Whatever! Here is what I want from you: There'll be a early 80ies electronic library compilation to be released very soon! The tracklisting is almost done. One or two songs of the following soundfiles will be included. What do you think? Which one is your favourite? Please vote, leave a comment or whatever... Thank you!

Soundfile 1:
SPACE

Soundfile 2:
CONTACT

Soundfile 3:
VIDEO

Soundfile 4:
IRONY

And, the soundfiles are not originating from the cover that is shown above - that's just an eye-catcher!

  2. Video is my favorite of the four options, but all are great.

  3. What can I say - I prefer full length original albums rather than snippets, and I still find the glory years are the mid 1960s to the mid 1970s. But that's just me!

  4. A bit of everything for me, I discovered the April Orchestra threw your site. Used a few albums for sampling and then went hunting on ebay when i really enjoyed an album. I am always looking for more organic acoustic sounding stuff(The Group Ensemble comes to mind). Generally piano, strings, horns, harp and anything like that without crazy drums or too much going on. Great blog by the way it has really help not only to build my sample library but for discovering great new music as well.

  5. Great posts and a wonderful blogsite that i enjoy very much. I like the 3rd track VIDEO. Could that be Coloursound - VDB - Video Games & Data Movements? Would love to hear it.

  6. If these snippets are anything to go by then this compilation of yours is going to be a bit special! In order of personal preference... ..4,2,1,3.
I'm pretty new to library music and I enjoy the open minded creativity of it all. Anything from lush string arrangements through funkin' big bands to quirky synths. So far I've only picked up a handful of library lps but thanks to blogs like yours my knowledge and enjoyment of all this music has greatly increased! Thankyou!!

  7. I can't decide. This is going to drive me nuts. Why not all of them? My only real request is that if you do post a comp, please indicate the sources.

By the way, thank you for all the great posts. I've been exposed to a lot of great library music on this blog.

  8. I too am looking for a bit of everything... With that said, track #2, "contact" is my favorite. Its amazing how much it sounds like a track from the neptunes.

  9. Dude, it's all just beautiful music! Happy for you to take it where you want to...keep up the amazing work! (These new tracks are killer btw)

  10. I'm very much into the experimental electronic music and mostly from the late 60's to the late 70's but I'm curious about mostly anything. Some 80's stuff sometime is also fine with me. I find myself having a real interest in Italian Library music...and when I really like an album I usually try to buy a copy on ebay.

    Soundfiles 4, 2, 1 and 3 for me.

Thank you for keeping up with your site
It's definitely one of the best source of library music on the web.

  13. I just love most of the stuff you post. There have been some real gems here which aren't available elsewhere, except for the occasional (stolen) track from another blogger's compilations.

  14. I'm loving the 1st track.
I use the ones i'm really into for
my radio show and bar dj gigs.
thank so much for all your hard work and dedication and for sharing and educating us.

  17. Thanks for your great blog.

I prefer the quirky to the funky, yet I like when it has beats, and melody, but not too cheesy. I love the freewheeling studio and sound experiments despite or due to the restrictions of creating "tools" for film and TV producers.
Like litlgrey, I prefer stuff from the late 60ies to late 70ies, but I like to be surprised by 80ies stuff.
I definitely prefer whole albums to comps. If I like something, I try to buy it on vinyl. I don't pay ridiculous prices though - also due to the fact that I found a whole lot of 200 library vinyls in a thrift store some years ago for little money.
I have mostly french and some italian stuff. tend to like it more than uk-labels - the french and italians just seem to be crazier. again, i love to be surprised here.

  18. Another thing: I'm looking for decent texts about the whole library thing. Any recommendations (apart from Trunk's book)?

    And to answer your poll:
    1. Video
    2. Contact
    3. Space
    4. Irony

  19. Thank you Flap, It sounded like it was V.D.B, it just has that signature sound, I would love to hear that Lp in the future as a request.

  20. i'm leaning towards Space or Irony... thanks for this blog!

  21. I love that Eric Vann track, so #1 gets my vote!

  22. I prefer not space and not irony. but i still like them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Flap, I didn't mean that you stole anything. I meant that I've heard some of your tracks in other bloggers' comps.

  26. Hi and thanks for blogging rare and "not commercial" music!
I share the same opinion as ra, see above. And I'd prefer whole albums to compilations as well.
Out of these four tracks "video" is the only one one that's somehow interesting due to its rhythmic structure, which might also apply to "Irony", but that track is just too daft! The rest has been heard a thousand times before.
Keep up the good word - says Laxley

  27. just to let u know: I wouldn't ask your opinion if this was only going to be a "mp3 blog compilation"... this comp will be commercially available on CD and LP. and for sure: all original sources, cover artworks, track descritptions etc will be provided in the booklet!

  28. wow, fantastic! sounds promising! I hereby pre-order one LP...

  29. I prefer sample no.4, sounds like a clone of keith emerson and bob james freaks out in the 80's...but also your older posts are electrifying, so much pleasure for me, i really enjoy this stuff... soulfood!

  35. Hi,
Among your introduced tracks I prefer IRONY.
    It's best among them.
    Also CONTACT is not bad.

But it would be nice if you can share some library music by Selected Sound.

They have a series in which they introduced music of many countries.

From east countries to the west.
I like to hear to this a lot.
In fact,I'm curios about music in these LPs.

1-MIDDLE EAST, ARABIA IRAN & ISRAEL - ROY HENLEY.

    2-Hawaii & South Pacific

    3-Germany 1 (South) & Germany 2 (North)

    Example is here:

  36. Hi, I am ussually looking for rare late seventies disco-ish libs.
Getting a "bandwidth exceeded" message. Could you rehost the files somewhere else?

    ReplyDelete
  37. can you share the entire Lp Percussive underscores? I'm too poor to get the vinyl on ebay:-)

  38. I think we can't select a track without knowing the rest of the compilation or at least what would be the main idea of the compilation, maybe it won't fit to the whole stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  39. they are all great :|

you are the freakin king! i DL these as a reminders to keep hunting for albums. nothing beats vinyl.
HOW DO YOU GET ALL THESE!? i keep looking. i find fewer gems than you post.
